Charitable Criteria
The object of Baynards Zambia Trust (BZT) is to promote the relief of poverty in Zambia by:
- Developing and encouraging sustainable food production through agricultural and related projects of all types including marketing and trading programmes;
- Developing projects which encourage the promotion of good health and the reduction and elimination of disease, and
- Advancing and promoting education in general.
BZT endeavours to achieve its objectives in the following ways:
- BZT seeks to act as an institution builder. It identifies local Non Government Organisations (NGO's) which are run by indigenous Zambians within Zambia and which show potential for future development. BZT may fund the local NGO to help realise its potential through the provision of
- Further education for the local NGO staff
- Human resources such as particular technical skills, additional staff or consultancy services,
- Material resources such as equipment, and
- Financial assistance to establish, develop or help maintain an appropriate administrative framework for continued operation.
- BZT seeks to identify suitable Zambian projects for funding. These may already be established or in the set-up stage of development. The trust will seek to act in partnership with the local project manager or, where appropriate, with the local NGO which may already be acting in partnership with the local project. Funding decisions will be made as a result of discussions and negotiations with the local NGO or project management and once it has been agreed where investment can best be made.
