SILC SUCCESS - YVONNE TEMBO

Yvonne Tembo aged 32 has 5 children and has been a SILC member for two years. She has had two loans. The first for K200 she bought goats and subsequently sold one. She had a second loan of K300 and bought ground nuts from local farmers and sold them at the nearby border with the DRC. Separately, she makes rugs from strips of material from old clothes she has bought using old fertiliser sacks as the base of the rug. She has thus far made 4 and sells for K50 each. With her various profits, she has bought more goats, cooking oil and household goods.

Her vision for three years hence is to buy cattle and open a grocery shop where she could sell her rugs.
